What is the Silver Spring Church of Christ?

A better question would be who is the Silver Spring Church of Christ? We are a body of people who believe that Jesus Christ is Lord -- meaning that God lived on earth in the form of Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus Christ taught us how to live, died for our sins, rose from the dead (to demonstrate that He really was God) and now sits at the right hand of the Father.

Our congregation consists of people from every race, of many languages and nationalities (about 25 nations represented on a typical Sunday morning!), of all ages, educational levels, marital statuses, and economic levels.

We are all sinners who have thrown ourselves on the grace of God, and we live with a joy and peace because God graciously forgives. God's Holy Spirit lives in us, and changes us from what we should otherwise be without Him.

2012 Laurel Bible Bowl
Mark your calendars! The 2012 Laurel Bible Bowl will be held Saturday, March 10, 2012. The questions will be taken from Matthew 1-14. Please contact Bro. Joseph Anderson for more information.

Bible Bowl Help!
Are you looking for a quick one time service project? Starting in January, the Bible Bowl participants practice every Saturday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. We are looking for volunteers to donate lunch for these hard working Bible Scholars! If you see this as a project you could handle just sign up for the Saturday you are willing to bring lunch. The sign-up sheet is in the foyer. For more information pleas see Linda Whitley.

Children's Coat & Shoe Drive
We are collecting children's shoes and coats again this year beginning this Sunday, November 20th. This effort is in cooperation with Linkages to Learning, which is the MCPS organization that we work with to collect school supplies each year. Please bring NEW shoes only. Coats may be gently used but should be laundered and ready to wear. All sizes are welcome for both shoes and coats. Donations should be placed in the collection box in the foyer. Monetary donations are also welcome. Please make checks payable to Silver Spring Church of Christ. If you have questions, please contact Mary Wilson or Dianthe Clemons. Ladies Prayer Breakfast, January 14 @ 10AM
Thank you to all the ladies who attended the Prayer Breakfast & Cookie Exchange in December. We had a wonderful time of fellowship together!

The next Ladies Prayer Breakfast will be held January 14 at 10:00 AM at Linda Bobo's home.

The purpose of this ministry is to meet in a small, casual group and pray for specific needs, to participate in a devotion and discussion, and to fellowship with other women in the Church. We usually have a diverse group of women attending and have a great time together. Our regular meeting date is the second Saturday of each month from September to June.

Come out and enjoy our next gathering at Linda Bobo's home on Saturday, January 14 from 10AM to Noon.

All ladies are welcome and asked to bring a breakfast item to share if it is convenient. Linda's lovely home is just about 15 minutes drive from the church building. Let her know if you need directions. We look forward to seeing you there!
